Quick answers
- Does ShopList sync lists with other people?
- Yes. You can share a list through iCloud and edit item titles, quantities, comments, and purchased state together. Personal fields such as price, category, translation, and photos stay local to each user.
- Does ShopList require an account?
- ShopList does not require a separate app account. Shared lists require the participants to use iCloud because sharing is handled by Apple iCloud.
- Can I share an empty list?
- Yes. In ShopList 2.0.2 you can share a list before adding items. The participant can accept it as a normal shared list, add the first item later, and the list stays shared if it becomes empty again.
- Can I delete or remove a shared list?
- Yes. Owners can delete a shared list from list editing; ShopList closes shared access first, and participants' apps clean up the unavailable list. Participants remove a shared list from list editing without affecting the owner or others.
- Can I keep editing a shared list while offline?
- Yes. Approved shared changes stay visible locally and are sent when connection returns. The app shows a lightweight pending or offline state when needed.
- What happens if shared access is closed?
- The shared list is no longer active for the member. ShopList shows a short access-closed message and cleans up the unavailable shared list instead of silently creating a local copy.
- Where are backups saved?
- In-app backups are saved as .shoplistbackup files. You can find them in Files under iCloud Drive > ShopList, or On My iPhone > ShopList when iCloud Drive is not available.
- Does restore merge data?
- No. A restore replaces the current ShopList data after confirmation.
- Why do location or notification reminders need permission after restore?
- iOS permissions are controlled by the device. ShopList can restore reminder settings, but the device may still require location or notification permission before reminders work.
- Can I open a backup file directly?
- Yes. You can open a .shoplistbackup file with ShopList and confirm restore inside the app.
